#298 - Red and Green Dogwood leaves on Slate

Dogwoods look so neat, they lack the scrubby, unkempt look of our native plants at this time of year and look rather smug next to their hedge neighbours. But the colours are nice now that the Maples are almost bare.

#168 - Dogwood Stalks

We would come around a twist in the path and there would be another thicket of bare dogwood stalks, blazing scarlet and orange in the sun - "It's a fire!" the children would call. You could almost warm yourself from these colours. I love the long, wavering shadows the stalks cast too. 

#132 - Red Dogwood and Willow

It's more about the textures at this time of year, but there are some colours in the drabness. The long, hanging branches of the Weeping Willows are bright yellow and you can see the scarlet stalks of dogwood from across the park.
