#337 - Linden flowers

Perfect Linden flowers... the limes in our local park have finished flowering but further afield the trees are covered with masses of these gorgeous pale-green blossoms. Because they are green they are easily missed,  I had never noticed them before I started this blog, so it makes me happy to think my life is richer for having linden flowers in it.

Lindens are so understated, they are a quiet presence, even in Autumn. I like the gentle colours of these slender bracts, so slowly warming from the palest yellow to tawny bronze, against the soft green of the trunk.

#137 - Linden shoots

Colour is creeping gradually back into the world. Standing underneath the empty Linden trees today,  I noticed that from the gnarled trunk, new smooth shoots are branching out - they are pink where they face the sun and amber underneath.

#91 - Folded Linden Leaves

Not everything makes a dramatic photograph but I am in love with the subtle graduations of colour that make up the autumn tree-scape. This Linden tree hardly changed at all, just faded gently from green to pale yellow and then, almost with a sigh, laid down its heart-shaped leaves.
