#347 - Autumnal Equinox

We are enjoying a late summer; cool evenings but days bright with sunlight and unexpected warmth. The tail-end of September and the trees are still green... until today, from across the park I saw the maples had turned. Scarlet and gold in the distance and my heart gave a little leap.

#275 - Tattered Maple Leaves

The Purple-Leaved Maple is shedding its leaves. They lie, glossy and near-black, at the foot of the tree. What beautiful rags they make.

#211 - Leaf Bud Scales, Crimson King Maple

The leaves are fully out and their discarded pink-green bud scales are strewn on every path. Under this purple-leaved Maple, hidden in the grass, they lie -  glossy half-curves, like drops of wine spilled out onto the ground.

#197 - Norway Maple Flowers

Our tree with the beautiful leaves has finally identified itself by growing flowers, green ones! I thought they were bright new leaves and was looking at them admiringly when I realised they were actually clusters of flowers. I don't think I've seen a green flower before but it certainly works.
